How it works

As we age, the collagen that keeps skin firm breaks down and skin begins to loosen. Ultherapy PRIME delivers ultrasound energy to the deep layers that a surgeon would address in a facelift, without cutting or disturbing the surface of your skin. That energy prompts your body to build fresh collagen and elastin, so the lift is your own tissue, not a filler or an implant.

The ultrasound is focused, the way a magnifying glass focuses sunlight, so it passes through the surface of the skin and releases its energy at a precise depth below. Each pulse creates a tiny point of gentle heat in the supporting tissue, including the foundational layer that holds the face in place. The skin on top is left untouched, which is why there is no peeling, no wound and no recovery time.

Your body treats those tiny points as a signal to repair. Over the following weeks it lays down new collagen and elastin around them, and the tissue gradually firms and lifts. Because the change comes from your own healing response, it appears slowly and looks natural: people tend to notice that you look rested, not that you have had something done.

During your visit

We cleanse your skin and map the areas to be treated.
Ultrasound gel is applied and the handpiece is placed against your skin.
Your provider views the layers beneath the skin on screen, then delivers the energy line by line.
You may feel brief warmth or tingling with each pulse. Nitrous is available for comfort.
A session takes roughly 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the areas treated.
Afterwards you can go straight back to your day. Some people have mild redness, swelling or tenderness for a short time.
